Ginger Scallion Steamed Fish

Ingredients:

  • 4 Fish steaks (cut whole fish into ½ inch portions)
  • 4 Tbsp Bali’s Best® Sweet Soy
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 3-4 Tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 3 tsp Sweet Rice Wine, Mirin, Sake or Shaoxing
  • 1 tsp Ginger juice (squeezed from grated ginger)
  • Scallions and Cilantro for garnish
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Coat fish steaks with sesame oil and sprinkle with salt & pepper.
  2. Whisk together Bali’s Best® Sweet Soy, sweet rice wine and ginger juice in a bowl.
  3. Marinate fish with some of the sauce, then steam the fillets over boiling water for 10 minutes.
  4. In a pan, warm cooking oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until medium brown. Then separate the toasted garlic bits from the oil in the pan.
  5. Brush the steamed fish steaks with garlic oil & garnish with the toasted garlic bits.
  6. Top with chopped scallions and cilantro for color and flavor.
  7. Spoon the remaining sauce around the fish and serve immediately.
